The e-bikes in this section are equipped with Bosch motors from the Active Line Plus or Performance series, integrated in the centre. These motors provide natural and efficient pedalling, with strong response when setting off, even under load, and outstanding reliability. Thanks to their position on the central axle, these motors allow for better weight distribution, riding stability, and reduced wear on the drivetrain. Do I need insurance or a licence to ride an electric bike?
In Spain, it is not compulsory to have insurance or a driving licence to ride an electric bike, provided that the motor has a maximum output of 250 W and the pedal assistance cuts out at 25 km/h. These bikes comply with this regulation, so no additional documentation is required compared with a conventional bike. However, it is highly recommended to take out civil liability or theft insurance, especially if you use it daily or park it on public roads. Some policies also include roadside assistance or cover for accidental damage.

European regulations limit the electric assistance of bikes to a maximum speed of 25 km/h. Once this speed is reached, the motor disengages and the bike continues under pedal power alone. It is important not to confuse them with speed pedelecs or electric mopeds, which exceed 25 km/h and do require registration, insurance, and a driving licence.
